My mind is officially blown by this animated sort, Love & Theft, by Andreas Hykade. It’s a strange psychedelic love letter to cartoons. The short’s Andreas quotes Bob Dylan’s In the Summertime in the video’s info panel:
And I’m still carrying the gift you gave,
It’s a part of me now, it’s been cherished and saved,
It’ll be with me unto the grave
And then unto eternity.”
This, along with the short’s title (also cribbed from a Dylan album) suggests that this short is about artistic influences permeating one’s consciousness, and becoming a part of the fabric of one’s own creativity. I will assume Andreas is a similar age to myself judging by the equal amount of reverence he gives to Sesame Street, Peanuts, Spongebob, Wallace & Gromit, Spider-Man, Fleischer cartoons, the Pink Panther, and Jim Woodring. The sad thing about YouTube, especially with animation, is the inability to navigate through something frame by frame.
